How to extract text from an image on Android

Sometimes you may want to get text out of images for one reason or the other.  Optical Code Recognition (OCR) is the technology that makes it possible to extract text from images.

Text Fairy is one of the best OCR apps available on Play Store. The app is really easy to use, and supports over 50 languages.

How to extract text from images on Android

Download and install Text Fairy(OCR Text Scanner) app from Play store.

When you launch the app, you’ll be instructed on how to use it. You can either tap the camera button to take a picture or select an existing image.

Take a photo or select an existing image

Ensure that the image is upright. You can use the rotation buttons at the bottom of the screen to do that.

Frame the text that you want and click on the right-pointing arrow.



After the image is cropped, you’ll be asked to select the number of columns. You can also change the language on this screen, then click “Start”.

The OCR will start reading the text.



Once it is done you can select what you want to do with the text and click OK.
