Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi recently released a variant of its budget friendly Redmi 3. Dubbed as the Redmi 3s, the device still maintains the 5-inch 720p display of its predecessor, and most of its other features.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 420 Soc, which is an upgrade to the Snapdragon 616 chipset used on the Redmi 3. Two memory variants are available – the 2GB/16GB model and the 3GB/32GB variant.
The camera setup is still the same. The Redmi 3s has a 13MP rear snapper with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and a single LED Flash, whereas the front-facing unit comes with a 5MP f/2.2 sensor. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi’s very own MIUI 7 on top, while a 4100mAh battery still powers the device. The handset also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back, and a hybrid SIM card slot, meaning that the secondary SIM slot can only support either a nano SIM or a microSD card. So you won’t be able to use both SIMs and a microSD card at the same time. Color options include dark grey, gold and silver.
Price and Availability
The 16GB version of the Redmi 3s is priced at CNY 699 ($106), while the 32GB model goes for CNY 899 ($136). The Redmi 3S will cost about N30,000 when available in Nigeria.
